Short Bio

After looking for a new hobby in 2011, Hollie Ward, discovered the world of painting. Inspired by nature around her East Texas home, Hollie was initially drawn to landscapes. Over the years she has expanded her interest to still life and most recently, portraits. Hollie lives just outside of Tyler, Texas, with her husband, Tony. When Hollie is not painting she is spending time her family and working in accounts receivable for a coffee roaster.

Statement

It all starts with a blank canvas, a void, a  nothingness, manipulated and cultivated into a beautiful piece art. A creation birthed by its creator.  

It sounded unattainable when I first thought about learning to paint. But, all it takes is one step at a time, one stroke at a time and willingness to learn from your mistakes, right? Well, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to learn from my many mistakes! But, because of the lessons I have learned, an imperfect piece of art is just as valuable to me as one well painted. 

Learning to paint has definitely been a journey, a journey I hope will never end. 

Biography

Born and raised in Tyler, Texas, Hollie has always been creative. Whether through photography, crocheting, embroidery or now painting, she has always looked for ways of expression and opportunities to keep her hands busy.

Although she has enjoyed the other hobbies, painting has become a  passion, one she has been able to share with her grandchildren and nieces.

Many times over the years, Hollie has had the children gathered around the dining room table, each with their own canvas, paint and brushes. They always looked forward to creating and expressing themselves through their own paintings.

Several of the children are now art students themselves with many award winning paintings among them.

Hollie is humbled and blessed to think she has played a small part in helping the kids discover their own hidden talents. 

Hollie considers herself “Youtube Taught” with no traditional training as of yet. Her art teachers since 2012 include the many artists who share the their talent and technics online.
